Your academic performance is very important to us. Our tutorial and academic programme are built around residents’ needs in any given year. We will support you to achieve your aims, in a community that truly balances living and learning opportunities.

Living Arrangements

Each of Toroa's 29 units has three to five residents living together.

Every unit has single bedrooms, with a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, dining and lounge area. Phone lines and network lines are available in bedrooms. Each unit has its own phone line and local calls are free.

In your bedroom we provide you with a king single bed, bed linen (including sheets, duvet, pillow, pillow cases), a desk lamp, a bedside lamp, a wardrobe, a laundry basket, a bath mat and a heater (note there is no central heating).

For those who wish to cook for themselves cooking with others is always an option, or you can cook for yourself at times to suit. For those not so confident in the kitchen, or with a busy schedule, the meal plan offers good quality meals on campus at an affordable price.

Residential Assistants (RAs) and Toroa staff will work with you and the other residents in your unit to help you maintain a harmonious living environment. Together you will work together to keep the communal areas of the unit clean and tidy, bathrooms are cleaned weekly by a cleaner.

You can choose to spend time on your own, but if you feel in need of company it is never wanting at Toroa, and the staff that live on site are always there when you need them.

Meal Plans

We understand that you may not feel confident in the kitchen and that the time you have available to cook for yourself may change throughout the year, so we have designed Toroa Meal Plans to suit your needs.

Take a break and grab a meal if you are on campus, or if you're at Toroa take a short stroll to campus and meet up with other Toroans choosing to eat in the Union. There is no obligation to purchase a meal plan, this is designed solely for those residents who wish to take advantage of having some meals prepared for them.

You have the option to eat lunch and/or dinner on Campus. You can purchase a lunch (a six inch sub), a dinner (main meal incl meat and vegetarian options), or both lunch and dinner option per calendar month.

Lunches are available from Frankly Sandwiches and dinner meals will be served in the Union Food Court seven days a week.

Got a late lecture? No problem, you can request a late dinner and collect it from campus.
Have particular dietary needs? Vegetarian and Halal options are always available and we may be able to offer other requirements by prior arrangement.

Feel free to talk to us if you want more information about how the meal plan works. .
