Who lives here?
Our community is a mix of both Kiwi and International students. We have residents from around New Zealand and all over the world, at all levels of study - making us a truly cosmopolitan community.
Our residents enjoy the opportunities to:
- develop independence in a supportive Residential College environment
- become part of a small and friendly community
- make lifelong friendships
- use their current language skills or practice a language they are learning
- continue their international experience after living or studying overseas
- gain a global perspective on life
- enjoy a broad intellectual, social and cultural experience
- choose a meal plan or cater for themselves
We Encourage Our Residents To Have An Environmental Conscience
We actively recycle, conserve water and save resources by turning off lights and electrical equipment when not in use. EARTH is Toroa’s environmental committee, which we hope you will join.
Members of EARTH (EcoReps) provide information and encourage other residents to be aware of simple sustainable living practices conducive to community living.
We encourage and provide communal facilities for recycling of paper, cardboard, glass, cans, batteries, egg cartons and other products. Our composting bins allow you to reduce the amount of food waste you send to the landfill. We also have community bikes for your use, and our Take it or Leave It area is Toroa's freecycling scheme - where you can place your unwanted goods, so that others may reuse them - and of course you can help yourself to something that might be of use to you.
Recycle, Reuse, Reduce
